Victoria Frances Young is an international award-winning pianist, composer, performer, and multimedia creator known for her technical virtuosity, musical depth, and sprawling imagination. She has performed extensively across North America, Europe, and Asia, creating unconventional concert experiences that combine classical performance, original composition, multimedia and electroacoustic work, and theatrical narrative. Her music is shaped by classical virtuosity, Chinese operatic and musical idioms from her cultural background, and the energetic influences of electronic music, music theater, and rock-and-roll. She is also the creator of staged multimedia works and opera, with stories drawing inspiration from astrophysics, science fiction, fantasy, and Chinese and Chinese-diaspora cultural identity across past, present, and future.

In 2026, Victoria won the International Alliance for Women in Music (IAWM) Search for New Music Competition’s Leah Reid Electroacoustic and Music in Technology Prize for her fixed-media operatic work, Breaking News. Breaking News was also selected for presentation at Knob Detox 2026, a colloquium on electronic and electroacoustic music and the intersection of music and technology, in Curitiba, Brazil. Her Piano Concerto received its world premiere by pianist Anna Laakso and the Lapland Chamber Orchestra under the baton of John Storgårds at the 2024 ISCM World New Music Days in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands. It was described as “...a characterful piano concerto that is both precise and captivating” (Klassisk). She is currently developing an original opera for chamber ensemble and planetarium visuals.

As a concerto soloist, Victoria has appeared with ensembles including the Danube Symphony Orchestra, Midland-Odessa Symphony, Peabody Symphony Orchestra, Nevada Chamber Orchestra, Henderson Symphony Orchestra, and UMKC Conservatory Orchestra. Her pianistic awards include the Walter Blankenheim Prize at the International Piano Competition “J. S. Bach” in Würzburg, First Prize at the Piano Concerto Festival in Budapest, and the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award in conjunction with NPR’s From the Top.

Victoria has been sponsored by U.S. Embassies and Consulates in Indonesia, Singapore, and China to give concert tours and conference presentations on piano performance and contemporary music creation. She is an alumna of the LA Philharmonic Associate Composer Program and the Colburn Music Academy. She completed her BM and MM at the Peabody Institute and the University of Missouri–Kansas City, respectively, and is pursuing her DMA at The Hartt School under Gilda Lyons. She has studied piano with Sean Chen, Alon Goldstein, Marian Hahn, Ory Shihor, and Mary Sauer, and composition with Chen Yi, Paul Rudy, and Vid Smooke.
